Fender in the 1980s embarked on the development of various models. Alongside vintage reissue and elite models, this 16-inch full-acoustic guitar, designed by master craftsman James L. D'Aquisto, was produced to mark the beginning of jazz guitar manufacturing.

It features a spruce top, maple back and sides, maple neck/ebony fingerboard, and ebony bridge and tailpiece. This particular instrument is from the later period after the standard full-size humbucker pickups were introduced.

Later, Stephen Stern, who received instruction from D'Aquisto himself at the Fender Custom Shop, produced guitars with almost identical specifications. However, this Japanese-made model is known as one of the rarest archtop guitars, with a limited production run. The pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan SH-2s. It possesses a smooth, unique tone directly inherited from D'Aquisto. Depending on the volume and tone controls, it can produce a variety of sounds, from traditional jazz tones to clear tones.

Regarding its condition, the electronics, including the pickups, and the strap pins have been replaced. The pickguard is missing, there are paint cracks throughout due to age, and there is no label inside the F-hole. While there are some scratches and dents, the guitar remains in good playing condition. The neck is in good condition with plenty of truss rod adjustment remaining, and the frets have approximately 80% remaining, resulting in excellent playability. An original hard case (showing signs of use) is included.

A rare Japanese-made Fender D'Aquisto in player's condition with replacement parts. Don't miss this opportunity!
