1967 Gibson Firebird III – Polaris White (Serial # 003605)

A classic example of Gibson's "non-reverse" Firebird III in a rare custom color with a great full neck profile, three hot P90s and OHSC.

Condition Notes:

Overall, this Firebird III is in excellent condition, it is very original with no significant issues or repairs, just a few very minor items detailed below. The Polaris white finish is original and in great condition, only a few scuffs and worn finish areas, possibly some small touch-ups to paint chips on the edges and normal checking and wear.

The frets appear original and are in very good shape. There is some minor wear on the first three frets, but plenty of fret material remains.

As typical with opaque custom color Firebirds, the finish along the glue seam lines where neck meets body has deep checking/separation but it's the original neck set with a good angle.

The nut is slightly wider on this guitar (1.61") than most '67 Gibsons, with a full C-shape neck profile that feels great in the hand and is easy to play. See below for exact measurements.

Comes with original hardshell case in rough condition with wear on the ends and a replaced handle pin. These cases weren't very rugged new and are usually rough 60 years later. The guitar will be packed very well both inside the case and inside the box for shipping, to arrive safely worldwide.

Changed (or repaired) items:

- The red embossed Firebird logo was carefully touched-up with red paint (the original was likely hard to see due to pick wear)

- Two pickup adjustment springs replaced (bridge pickup), so it can now adjust up/down.

- One pickguard screw was replaced (lower bout, which is angling sideways from the shrinking pickguard)

-A small crack in the pickguard has been reglued after slitting due to shrinkage at the screw hole.

-Weight: 8.1 lbs (3.7kg)

-Nut width: 1.61” (40.8mm)

-Neck depth at 1st fret: .82” (21.1mm)

-Neck depth at 7th fret:.97”  (25.3mm)

-Neck depth at 12th fret: 1.04” (26.6mm)

-Bridge pickup reading: 9.13K

-Neck pickup reading: 8.42K

-Middle pickup reading: Unknown without isolating solder joints – combined reading of 4.48k

Comes in original hardshell case. Functional, but in rough condition with wear on the ends, plus a small modification to accessory compartment and handle pin replaced.
