The Fender Bassman probably went through more changes than any other amplifier in the Fender lineup. Originally designed for Bass, while being adopted by Guitarists & Harmonica players, the amp would take its initial shape. Fender would experience later changes from the acquisition of CBS. All this aside, it is widely recognized that the 5F6A schematic is arguably one of the most sought after & copied by tone aficionados. Famously, these original tweed Bassman amplifiers would spearhead James Marshall Amplifiers, as the Fenders were too expensive to ship to England. Needless to say, the history of these original tweed amps shaped rock & roll - and will surely continue to with examples like this.
Here we have a Bassman which accurately dates to March 1960, by way of its "JC" stamp on the tube chart, as well as various late '59 components still present. This amp is very striking, featuring its replaced tweed tolex & grill (still housed in the original cabinet).
This example has been beautifully maintained and retains all its mojo, while having new parts where it counts with some thoughtful updates to boot. F&T and Sprague Atoms replace the Filter, bias, and cathode bypass caps. The coupling caps - having already been replaced long ago - have been upgraded to Jupiter Red Astron caps. Known for their vintage correct tone, they are a welcome upgrade. The bias circuit has had a trimpot added, allowing fine tuning of the bias not available in a stock Bassman.
It retains the original 45249 Output Transformer, as well as December '59 dated Schumacher choke and Power Transformer. Four era correct Jensen P10Q speakers, again, accurately dating to 1960, albeit slightly later with date codes indicating July production. Replaced 3 Prong IEC, and new handle.
Lots of edge & classic vibe to this classic amplifier, ready for the right collector, studio or stage.

A tan cover is included in the sale.
