Boss Katana Head MkII 100W Guitar Amplifier Head in Very Good Condition

Built to work equally well as a full 100-watt stage head or a self-contained practice amp, the Boss Katana Head MkII is one of the most flexible versions of the Katana platform. It combines five core amp characters, five independent effects sections, eight onboard memories and Boss Tone Studio editing with a built-in 5-inch speaker, so it can be used without an external cabinet when practising at home. Connected to a suitable cab, it delivers the full 100-watt output.

Condition

This amplifier is in very good condition. It has a few dings, scrapes and cosmetic marks consistent with normal use, all of which are visible in the photographs.

These marks are cosmetic only and have no effect on the operation or sound of the amplifier. Most importantly, it is in fully functional condition and ready to go straight into regular use.

Sound and performance

The Katana Head MkII provides five main amp voices: Acoustic, Clean, Crunch, Lead and Brown, with a Variation setting effectively doubling the basic tonal choices. That gives it enough range to move from clean pedal-platform sounds through classic crunch and into considerably heavier high-gain territory.

Five independent effects sections cover Booster, Mod, FX, Delay and Reverb, and connecting the amp to Boss Tone Studio opens up more than 60 Boss effects along with deeper routing, EQ and parameter editing. Once a sound is dialled in, it can be stored in one of eight Tone Setting memories for quick recall.

The variable Power Control is especially useful, allowing the amp to be run at 0.5 watts, 50 watts or 100 watts when connected to an external cabinet. This makes it much easier to move between home, rehearsal and stage use without completely changing rigs.

Playability and functionality

One of the most useful features of the head version is that you do not necessarily need to connect a speaker cabinet every time you want to play. The internal 5-inch speaker makes it useful for practice, editing presets or checking sounds at home, while an external cabinet turns it into a fully stage-capable 100-watt rig.

The Power Amp In connection is also useful if you already use an external modeller, multi-effects unit or preamp. Plugging into this input bypasses the Katana's normal preamp and effects sections, allowing the unit to function as a dedicated powered amplifier platform.

For larger setups, the effects loop, USB connectivity, line output and optional GA-FC controller support make it easy to integrate with pedalboards, recording systems and more complex live rigs.

A great choice if you want one amplifier head that can cover quiet home practice, recording, rehearsals and full-volume stage use, with enough onboard modelling and effects to work equally well as a standalone rig or alongside an existing pedalboard.
