DESCRIPTION

Up for sale is a Conn 52B CONNstellation Bb trumpet, serial #600680, in silver plate.

This is the more modern UMI-era 52B CONNstellation, not one of the early vintage Elkhart 38B CONNstellations. The 52B is a different and more modern design with a .462 large bore, reverse leadpipe, rounded tuning slide and 4 7/8” seamless yellow brass bell.

This one is in Very Good condition with normal wear and was recently professionally serviced by Kevin Stiles at Heritage Music in Kansas City, including his valve alignment as part of the service.

It’s been gone through and is ready to play.

CONDITION

Very Good

This is a very clean, well cared for example with normal cosmetic wear from playing and handling.

There are some light scratches and small marks in the silver plate consistent with normal use, but nothing I would consider unusual or concerning.

The valves are in good working condition. Slides and valves are functioning as they should, and the horn is ready to play.

It was recently professionally serviced by Kevin Stiles at Heritage Music in Kansas City, including his valve alignment.

Please look closely at the photos for the exact cosmetic condition.

PLAYABILITY

The 52B is a little different from your typical Bach-style setup.

The .462 large bore, reverse leadpipe and rounded tuning slide give it a more open feel while still maintaining a solid center to the sound.

The valves are working properly, and with the recent professional service and valve alignment, this one is ready to go.

It’s a versatile horn that can work for concert band, jazz, commercial playing, church or general all-around use.

WHY THIS HORN

The later 52B CONNstellation gives you an interesting combination of features in an American-made Conn.

You get the .462 large bore, reverse leadpipe, seamless yellow brass bell, Monel valves and Conn Modular Valve Weight system in a horn that’s a little different from the usual Bach and Yamaha options.

This one is also in very good shape and has already been professionally serviced and valve aligned.

This instrument was photographed in a professional LED light box. Bright reflections can sometimes make the bell or tubing appear wavy or distorted. Unless specifically noted in the condition description, these reflections are not damage.

I have included photos from different angles showing that apparent lines, waves or distortions in the bell are reflections from the light box opening and interior, not damage to the bell.
