Collings D2H SB - 2024

This is a guitar that cannot be ignored. I spent a while looking for the ultimate D28, and when I found the Collings D2H it was as if someone had grabbed an old D28, magically made it brand new, and made sure it would never got lost in the mix. Even though this guitar is only a couple of years old and is in generally immaculate condition, it has been played thoroughly and babied every step of the way. The only complaints I have heard about Collings is that they are too perfect and have a tight sound as a result. This one has been opened up well, and is starting to develop the distinctive bell like quality that Indian Rosewood gives. The Spruce top absolutely shouts. The Collings D2H is clearly the king of dreadnaughts in terms of volume and clarity; this is a perfect example. Visually, the top has a world class sunburst finish, the back and sides have cleanly figured rosewood grain.
I purchased this guitar from Chicago Music Exchange In Novemeber of 2024. It was very well setup and has stood up very well. Intonation is good, the frets still have a decent amount of life in them, no sticking when bending strings. Aside from minor scuffs, the only sign of wear is a capo rub on the bass side of the headstock. Currently setup with .13 Stringjoys.
