Marantz SR9600 7.1 Channel THX Ultra2 A/V Receiver w/ Original MC-10 Mic – Tested

Selling my Marantz SR9600, a very substantial flagship-era Marantz receiver rated at 140 watts per channel x 7 and weighing approximately 57 pounds by itself.

This is a Made-in-Japan SR9600 with THX Ultra2, a large toroidal power transformer, copper-plated chassis, HDMI, optical and coaxial digital inputs, 7.1-channel analog input, phono input, extensive analog connectivity, preamp outputs/main inputs, and multi-room capability.

Includes the original Marantz MC-10 omnidirectional calibration microphone used with the receiver's M.R.A.C. room-acoustic calibration system.

Current Testing

I recently pulled the receiver out and tested it before packing it for sale.

Successfully tested:

• Powers on normally
• Front-panel display and controls operate
• Analog source input
• Front left/right speaker outputs into passive speakers
• Front left/right preamp outputs into a powered PA system
• Front headphone output with AKG studio headphones
• Volume and source selection

It currently produces clean stereo audio and I was unable to reproduce any problem during this testing.

Not every input, output, surround channel, HDMI function or feature has been tested.

Important Condition Disclosure

This receiver was removed from regular service several years ago because it developed an intermittent problem.

Enough time has passed that I no longer remember the exact symptom. My recollection is that it may have involved occasional audio dropout and/or something that occurred after the receiver had been operating for a while, but I cannot state that with certainty.

I have not been able to reproduce the problem during my current testing.

I want to be completely clear about that history rather than representing the receiver as problem-free simply because it is working properly now. It is therefore being sold as-is with a disclosed history of an intermittent fault of unknown cause.

This could be an excellent receiver for someone familiar with high-end vintage/home-theater equipment, or someone comfortable troubleshooting it if the old problem eventually returns.

This thing is a beast.

The receiver itself weighs approximately 57.3 lb, and it has already been carefully packed for shipment. Packed shipping weight is approximately 83 lb.

It is heavily protected and ready to ship. Because of the weight and the amount of packing required, I will not unpack it for additional photographs or testing. All photographs and testing described above were completed immediately before it was packed.
