Vintage 1970 - 1972 Gibson L-5CES

You're looking at a true Cadillac of the Gibson Guitar line-up.
Rare and very hard to find from the "Golden era" of Gibson Production, this L-5 is a stunner and a tone monster. Fully carved, the back on this is a bookmatched work of art that will stand up to any L5 from the 1950's.   

The very early 70's are great years for the L5.  Gibson made a return to the WIDE standard nut width of 1 and 11/16th inches, as well as the "Venetian" or rounded cutaway that they abandoned in 1960.  
1970 also pre-dates some structural changes Gibson made across the board around 1974 including the dreaded neck "volute".   This is a "no volute" example, and the construction and features of this era of L-5s are very true to the original models from the 1950's.

This particular example has probably seen 20,000 gigs - recording sessions, hotel lounges, playboy clubs, and every possible thing in between.   The finish shows the signs of wear that only a guitar put into true service for decades after decade can exhibit.   There is finish wear, various dings, pick marks and surface wear - too many to count, really - but the good news is this war horse is structurally solid as a rock - no breaks, cracks or repairs.
