Unbranded MIJ 12-String Semi-Hollow Electric 1960s-70s Sunburst - Japan

A vintage Japanese 12-string semi-hollow from the golden era of MIJ oddballs, sold honestly and priced for what it is.

THE GUITAR

Three-tone sunburst over a bound, double-cutaway thinline body with twin f-holes. Bolt-on maple neck, rosewood board, large pearloid block inlays, multi-ply binding on both the body and the headstock. Two chrome-framed single-coils with white bar inserts, four controls (volume and tone per pickup), slide selector on the upper bout guard, adjustable bridge into a chrome trapeze tailpiece. Neck plate is stamped STEEL REINFORCED NECK / MADE IN JAPAN, serial 2114241.

ON THE BRAND - PLEASE READ

There is no logo on the headstock, and two small holes where a badge or decal once lived. I am listing it as unbranded because that is what it is. The body, neck plate, hardware and pickup set line up with the Japanese factory output that shipped to the US under Conrad (the 40100), Kingston, Kent, Ventura and other importer badges - but I am not going to put a name on it that I cannot prove, so you are getting it priced as a no-name.

ELECTRONICS - SOLD AS UNTESTED

I plugged this in a few years ago and it worked at that time. I have no way to test it right now, so it is listed as untested. Assume it may want the usual attention any 50-year-old guitar wants - pot cleaning, a jack, or wiring work. Please do not buy this expecting guaranteed working electronics.

CONDITION - TOLD STRAIGHT

Graded Good. The neck is straight and it is structurally sound, with no breaks and no repairs. There are scattered light scratches, nicks and dings in the finish throughout, and finish blemishes and discoloration on the back of the body - all fully photographed. Binding, pickguard, knobs, tuners and hardware are present and original. It is wearing old strings. Electronics untested, as above.

Every flaw I can see is in the photos. Ask for more and I will take them same day.
