I finally decided to let go of the most special Les Pauls I’ve ever owned. Right in the heart of the Goodwood era, this beautiful 1989 Gibson Les Paul Custom 35th anniversary triple pick up black and gold model was made. First let me say that a lot of people say this, but it was truly difficult photographing this one with its incredible glossy black finish and truly excellent shape. I have included some daylight and some indoor tungsten photos to give you an idea of the lighting, but it absolutely looks 100 times better in person with no exaggeration.

This one is by far the nicest one I have seen on Reverb and I have been watching these for a decade. nicer ones tend to sell for seven grand or more and I have this one priced closer to the ones that have a lot of cosmetic damage. This one is truly an excellent shape.

First off the finish is incredible except for a few very very small chips on the top back corner wing of the headstock, one on the back bottom of the cutout horn, one on the very top upper bout’s edge and one down near the bottom strap peg. Barely bigger than the size of a pen tip, but to remark on everything. There slightest bit of very minor buckle rash on the back that doesn’t go through the paint, but just scuffs through the shiny the tiniest bit as I tried to show you on the close-up photo of the back. No repairs or breaks of any sort and 100% original in every way down to every detail and screw.

The frets are in excellent shape with nearly 100% fret life left

Also very worth noting that most of these have a lot of tarnishing or missing gold on the pick up covers and tuners and this one retains very close to 100% of all of its original gold finish and looks amazing. The binding is superb. This one was obviously made on a great day for Gibson and in the right time. It’s a little heavy at nine and three-quarter pounds but many of these are far north of 10 pounds or even 11 so this is actually one of the lighter of this exact model.

The original case is in excellent shape with maybe the slightest bit of tarnishing on the claps and locks but after all it’s 37 years so in great shape considering. No surprises of any sort. The only thing missing on this is the manual and baby photo. Did not come with paperwork and bought it right here on Reverb from tidewater vintage guitars. The action is superb and recently set up with Stringjoy 9.5 strings and plays phenomenally!

I switched my shipping to flat rate because Reverb wanted to charge customers 198 to 240 for the and that is absurd. The $60 flat rate will only cover a portion but anything up and above that I will cover.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. I ship fast and will ship in a double insulated box, padded inside and outside of the hard case with strings detuned a few steps unless requested otherwise. Thanks for checking out my guitar!
