     Offering a gorgeously working and vintage 1940's Altec 639B combination ribbon/dynamic microphone. The Altec 639B—often called the “Birdcage” microphone—is a rare vintage dual-element microphone originally developed by Western Electric and later produced by Altec. The 639 has been a standard in broadcasting, recording studios, public-address work, congressional hearings, United Nations assemblies, and many notable film works including "The Wizard of Oz". It also excels on vocals/voice-over work, guitar amps, drums, horns, keyboard, overheads, just to name a few. You'll very rarely find one in such nice condition. It has all of the original and unaltered or repaired factory internals, with a paint refresh on the exterior. It's mounted to a custom-made yoke assembly that allows the mic to rotate 360 degrees and hold the position. A short hardwired pigtail has a male XLR plug. Also includes the heavily-weighted desk stand. Total height is just under 17".
