These 1960s Japanese guitars became famous through Hound Dog Taylor’s raw blues and slide work. Dan Auerbach later put them to effective use with the Black Keys. Ry Cooder shaped his clean signature roots sound with Teisco guitars. Very versatile guitars that suit many styles of play.
BTW - Gold-foil and Black-foil pickups share the same basic design (whether Teisco/Japanese or DeArmond-style). They’re essentially identical pickups with different cosmetics—gold or black paper covering. The paper has no effect on the sound, and none of these pickups contain actual gold metal circuitry.
This example is fitted with Teisco Black foil pickups.
It has a straight neck, good action, and plays and sounds great. All switches and knobs operate smoothly with no issues. Tuners work fine. Frets show very little wear - see photos. The body has only minor surface dings; the vibrato arm is missing. No case included. Packed securely for shipment.
