Vintage Höfner 172 solidbody electric guitar from the early 1960s, made in Germany.

A beautiful and characterful example of Höfner’s early solidbody guitars, featuring the distinctive textured White Vinyl finish, which has naturally aged over the decades to a warm cream/golden colour.

The guitar features two vintage Höfner “Diamond Logo” pickups, the large black pickguard, original-style Höfner control panel and the characteristic Höfner vibrato/tremolo system.

The instrument shows honest signs of more than 60 years of use and age, including wear, patina and oxidation to the hardware. The vinyl covering is remarkably attractive and gives the guitar a wonderful authentic vintage appearance. Please see the photos for the exact cosmetic condition.

The tuners are vintage and appear largely period-correct; some tuner buttons may have been replaced at some point in the guitar’s life. Due to its age, I cannot guarantee that every small component is factory-original.

The guitar comes from a private collection/estate in Germany.

The guitar is currently being restrung and will be fully tested before sale. Details regarding playability, electronics, pickups, controls and vibrato will be added after the test.

A very distinctive piece of early-1960s German guitar history – equally interesting as a player, collector’s instrument or studio guitar.
