Up for sale, a 1990s Hofner Limited Edition 500/1 Cavern Violin Bass reissue in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, CoA and hangtag. Produced exclusively for Music Ground in the UK, this German-made Hofner is a faithful recreation of the original spec 500/1, featuring a flat back, fully-hollow construction, ‘61-centric “Cavern” pickup spacing, and period-accurate aesthetics.
Weighing just 4lbs 11oz, tonewoods include a spruce top, flame maple back and sides, flame maple/beech neck, and a very dark rosewood fingerboard, yielding a distinctive acoustic thud and pluck with unparalleled natural resonance. Via the pair of Hofner Diamond pickups, this bass is smooth and sweet sounding, with a warm, woody, upright bass-like tone and a pillowy thump, and the bass' Beatle-esque sonic signature is cemented by a set of 55-112 black nylon tape wound Beatle Bass strings. This Cavern Violin Bass benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, dialed in with comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The Sunburst finish highlights the figuring of the flame maple back and rims, and while the binding shows some checking and areas of minor chipping, it has been stabilized from further deterioration. There is some buckle wear on the back, various minor nicks and scuffs, and a few tiny finish chips along the top headstock edge. The gloss finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean with similar light, restrained wear on the carve.
