This speaker upgrade gives the tone much more depth and high-end detail and warmth and some added lows. It still has that classic VOX sound so you'll always be cutting through the band if you want to, depending on where you set your treble and bass at on the amp itself.

There was one gig I set up at with this amp and they had the lineup wrong and we had to quickly get our gear off the stage. The "instrument in" got yanked under the pressure of having to unload last second. The input "sunk a little" because a hex nut came loose from my guitar cable that pulled on it and I couldn't find the little hex nut. It has worked fine since then which was about 3 years ago. You may want to buy a little hex nut and pull the input back up but that's up to you. Please see photos for that.

Fun fact: This exact amp was played by Greg Camp, former guitarist of Smash Mouth who wrote all their massive hits! He loved this amp and it agreed well with his guitar and pedalboard. I was fortunate to play a gig alongside him in my band The Lovepools at Music Lodge 2025. We have some posts of our together performance on our instagram if you're interested.

This amp was mainly used for gigging but I did use it for some of our recordings, especially "Caught In A Frenzy" one of our songs.

Anyway, if you want to see how the amp sounds live, just check out our website and go to our YouTube/Insta from there. Lots of samples around. Google: The Lovepools to find us

I always appreciate a play test, and especially since this amp was upgraded, I think it's good to offer you a place to hear it in action.

This is a very good sounding amp in general and it can get very loud. It takes pedals well and I find the amp sounds best with clean tones, overdrive, fuzz and light distortion. Ironically I did like a boss metal core through it but only on lowest gain on the pedal.

Modulation works well too. I actually preferred not using the FX loop and just added verb and delay at the end. Has amazing built-in verb in the amp that is enjoyable to jam with and very useable for gigging or recording.

Selling this because I'm starting to get into much heavier sounds in general. I started out doing Indie Rock but lately we're getting more Alternative.

This amp is pure classic rock, blues, 60s chime and shoegaze. Modern distorted rock is not what it excels at, at least not what I have been wanting in my exact time I want live.

If you're looking for a gig and recording ready VOX that has one of the best sounding speakers for it, look no further!

As of now, local pick up only. I can drive an hour or so if needed to meet you for purchase if you live far from me. I'll consider shipping the amp if you dm me with details.

Anyway, you'll love this amp if it is what you're looking for! The speaker alone is worth brand new $299 (this is even better, it's broken-in)😂
