I am offering my Gibson ES335TDC from early 1964 for sale.

This 335 bears a five-digit serial number: 66597.

Clapton’s 335 had the serial number 67473... so it is safe to assume it comes from the same production batch. However, it makes no crucial difference to me whether this 335 comes from the same batch as E.C.'s.

It is worth noting, in my opinion, that this 335 is in very good and almost entirely original condition. Only the pickup covers and the truss rod cover have been replaced. Image 13 shows it with the 12-hole pickup covers and without the "Custom Made" plate.

The potentiometers all bear the stamp 1376405, indicating the 5th week of 1964.

The electronics are in untouched, original condition; no soldering work has been performed.

See photos.

For some reason, the previous owner had fitted the 335 with 12-hole pickup covers; I have reinstalled the original pickup covers (Photo 13). The 335 left the factory in 1964 with the drill holes for a stop tailpiece but was fitted with a Bigsby system—a common practice at the time. I attached the original "Custom Made" plate using double-sided tape. There are no mounting holes for the plate, indicating it was originally a stop-tailpiece configuration. The bridge is an original ABR-1.

A blacklight test confirms the authenticity of the potentiometer knobs and the "PAT No." decals. See photos. It also retains its original frets.

The neck profile from this year is among the best Gibson has ever produced.

Overall, the instrument is in exceptionally good condition. The 335 comes with its original case and is available for pickup or shipping.
