Golden-Era Mason & Hamlin

This piano was built during Mason & Hamlin’s celebrated pre-Aeolian era, when the company was still an independent manufacturer producing some of the greatest American pianos ever made.

One of Mason & Hamlin’s distinguishing features is its patented Tension Resonator System—a system of metal bracing underneath the piano that further reinforces its exceptionally strong structure.

Mason & Hamlin pianos already feature unusually thick inner and outer rims. Combined with the Tension Resonator System, this extremely rigid construction contributes to the powerful, robust tone for which Mason & Hamlin pianos are known. It also helps the soundboard retain its crown—the slight upward arch that is essential for projecting and sustaining tone.

Big Sound in a 5’8” Grand

The Model A has an unusually wide tail, providing more soundboard area than you might expect from a 5’8” grand.
