Epiphone Lzzy Hale Explorer Custom 2026 - Black Diamond Holographic Sparkle - Brand new!

There are finishes that look good in photographs, and then there is this. The new Black Diamond Holographic Sparkle is closer to having a disco ball wrapped around an Explorer: under direct light, thousands of metallic particles shift through silver, green and purple, while the mirror pickguard and nickel hardware push the whole thing even further. Somehow, Epiphone managed to make something this extravagant look remarkably well executed. Guitar World reached essentially the same conclusion, awarding the new Lzzy Hale Explorer Custom a 5/5 overall rating, including full marks for both playability and sound, and describing it as a genuine show-stopper whose appeal extends well beyond Halestorm fans.

Underneath all that bling is a seriously well-specified Explorer Custom. The mahogany body receives 7-ply top binding, while the glued-in mahogany neck uses Epiphone's SlimTaper 60s C profile and carries a 12" ebony fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets and pearloid block inlays. The classic hockey-stick headstock gets a black rear stinger, Graph Tech nut, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners and one of the coolest details of the entire guitar: the raised nickel Epiphone logo, rather than a conventional printed or inlaid logo. LockTone Tune-O-Matic and Stop Bar hardware, silver Speed knobs, nickel pickup covers and the single-ply mirror pickguard complete the Custom treatment.

A pair of Epiphone's new ProBucker Ignite humbuckers provides the muscle. They are hotter and more modern than a traditional PAF-style pickup without throwing clarity away, with a tight, controlled bottom end that remains articulate under substantial gain. Guitar World gave the sound another 5/5, specifically praising their clarity, power and focused response. Controls remain deliberately straightforward: individual volume controls for each pickup, master tone and a three-way selector. The result is not simply an extravagant signature guitar, but a properly stage-ready Explorer with the construction, playability and sound to back up the looks.

Brand-new instrument, played only a handful of times for testing - I would say around 3 or 4 hours in total - complete, in its case and with all case candy.
