H929 Stella 1950s - Neck Reset - Video - Harmony Acoustic Parlor Guitar
Here's a really nice 1950s Stella made by Harmony in Chicago, USA. The 929 is a solid birch-bodied parlor guitar with a tiger-striped sunburst finish. It has a string scale of 24 inches and a nut width of 1.75 inches. It has spruce ladder bracing.
The ones like this made in the 1950s have a very chunky neck and no truss rod at all. They also sport the very stylish slanted Stella logo. The body is a little lighter than the later models and can really complement a blues-style player.
This one has had the neck reset. The bridge has been shimmed up to set the action just above 2mm. The frets have been leveled and crowned, so the action can be lowered at the bridge if desired. The nut has been filed for a comfortable height without any buzzing. The tuners have been cleaned and lubricated. The finish has been cleaned and polished.
All the braces were tight and did not need any reglueing.
It is set up with light gauge D'Addario phosphor bronze strings and plays cleanly up the neck.
A few little cosmetic nicks shown in last few picks. Overall, very handsome.
Very nice example of an original (except for the nut) 1950s Stella.
No case with this one, but it's wrapped in bubble wrap for shipment. Shipping is calculated by Reverb based on size, weight, and distance. Reverb shipping protection included.
