About this listing
The MXR Flanger/DoublerThe Flanger/Doubler recreates the original MXR rack unit in pedal form, authentically capturing classic all-analog flanger and doubler effects featured on hallmark recordings from the ’70s and ’80s. With a full set of controls, you can chase those vintage tones or craft your own rich textures, from subtle depth to multi-layered soundscapes.PowerThe MXR Flanger/Doubler is powered by a 9-volt AC adapter such as the Dunlop ECB003/ECB003EU or an MXR Brick Series power supply. This pedal cannot be powered by a battery.FeaturesExternal Controls
FOOTSWITCH toggles effect on/bypass (red LED indicates on).
MIX knob adjusts the mix of wet to dry signals, from fully dry to fully wet.
REGEN knob adjusts feedback, from subtle shimmer to deep, jet-like whooshing.
MANUAL knob sets the effect’s average delay time. Turning toward MAX (counterclockwise) increases the length of the delay, resulting in a deeper, more spacious flanger mode and a doubler mode that pushes beyond chorusing and into delay territory.
WIDTH knob controls the sweep range, from no modulation to subtle, textured motion and all the way to wide, seasick pitch bends.
SPEED knob adjusts how fast the modulation sweep moves across the range set by the WIDTH knob.
SWEEP LEDs reflect the delay time at any given moment, visibly displaying how the SPEED, WIDTH, and MANUAL knobs shape the modulation cycle.
When WIDTH is turned fully counterclockwise, the SWEEP LEDs will display the setting of the MANUAL knob. The left LED indicates longer delay times, while the right LED indicates shorter delay times.
When WIDTH is turned fully clockwise, the modulation sweeps across all possible delay times, regardless of the MANUAL setting.
Together, the WIDTH and MANUAL knobs shape how wide the modulation sweeps around a given average delay time, while SPEED controls how quickly that sweep cycles.
DOUBLER button increases the delay time for all settings. Where the default FLANGER mode is capable of metallic, jet-engine swooshes, the DOUBLER mode can range from vibrato, chorus, and slap-back delay to haunting, pitch-bent feedback. Red LED indicates DOUBLER mode is engaged.
INVERT button flips the polarity of the wet signal for an out-of-phase effect that provides a range of different textures, from a thin, hollow vocality to low-mid punch. Red LED indicates INVERT mode is engaged.
CV OUT jack sends a 0–5V signal derived from the internal LFO (set by the MANUAL, WIDTH, and SPEED controls). Use it to control modulation parameters on other CV-compatible pedals, synths, or external devices. Perfect for syncing sweep depth and rate across multiple effects.
CV IN jack allows you to connect external 0–5V control voltage from synths, sequencers, or CV-capable expression pedals—bypassing MANUAL, WIDTH, and SPEED knobs.
INPUT LEVEL switch adjusts input and output gain staging to increase headroom and allows the hottest signals to play nicely with the MXR Flanger/Doubler without clipping. The Line Level setting provides the highest possible headroom, while the Instr. Level setting ensures the lowest possible noise.
