About this listing
A near - Holy Grail level cymbal for fellow Paiste Signature / Pre - Dark Energy nerds. I need to look up the actual serial/date, but this was an early 2000's Endorsement cymbal, and I honestly never thought I'd let go of it... and I frankly don't want to. but I haven't gigged it in so many years... and I'm starting to feel guilty that it isn't being played. Aside from being just a stunning thing to look at, this is, after years of playing all the different heavier Dry / Dark rides... for my money this is the absolute king. if you manage to get a little wash (it has a really pretty 'crash' and an amazing 'shoulder' accent), it's gorgeous and subdued. The bell will cut through anything, without sounding harsh. It's as complex as that iconic hammering suggests. The definition is insane. It sounds as dark as it looks, it's a tank at almost 3kg, and it's just a phenomenal instrument. There are a couple tiiiiny fleabites (and again, there is a 0% chance they will develop into anything else, on this cymbal) -- see last two pics. I haven't cleaned off years of wood-tip residue, because I never do, but it doesn't touch the sound, and you can only even see it from a real shallow angle, in most light.*There IS* one little finger tip-sized (a dime is almost too big) depression in the bell (in the next-to-last couple pics), which was there when the cymbal came to me from the endorsee, be it an errant hammer in the factory or... i honestly can't imagine what else... but for one last iteration, it absolutely does not impinge the sound. It's not enough for me to downgrade the condition, as far as I'm concerned. Demo video, semi-obviously isn't this exact cymbal, but it sounds pretty dead-on (if you made it this far, you probably already know Paiste Signatures have been the champs at consistency, over the years. ;))Local NYC Pickup available and always preferred, but I will absolutely coccoon this glorious thing and send it to you, too. But. She IS a little heavy, so... It won't be the cheapest box ever.Sold as-is as always. Thanks!!!
