Offered here is an exceptionally desirable early Vincent Bach Stradivarius Model 6 VII tenor trombone, serial number 3332, manufactured in the New York factory circa 1949.
If you are looking at this listing, you likely already know that New York Bach instruments occupy a special place in brass history. Built under Vincent Bach's direct supervision before production moved to Mt. Vernon, these trombones are renowned for their craftsmanship, hand-fitting, responsiveness, and unmistakable sound. They remain among the most sought-after vintage professional trombones ever produced.
The bell is beautifully engraved:
STRADIVARIUS
MODEL 6 VII
VINCENT BACH CORPORATION
NEW YORK 67 U.S.A.
The "New York 67" engraving identifies this as a genuine New York-era instrument, produced before the Mt. Vernon period and long before modern mass-production methods.
Why collectors seek these out
For those unfamiliar with vintage brass instruments, not all Bach Stradivarius trombones are equal.
Early New York Bach instruments were built in much smaller numbers and are widely regarded as representing Vincent Bach's finest craftsmanship. Many professional musicians and collectors consider these horns to have:
• exceptional hand-built quality
• remarkable response
• outstanding intonation
• rich, colorful tone
• historical significance
Because of this, original New York Bach instruments routinely command significant premiums over later production models.
Finding an original example that has survived largely intact for over 75 years is becoming increasingly difficult.

A Note for Collectors
Original New York Bach Stradivarius trombones have become increasingly difficult to locate, particularly examples retaining their original period-correct slide and early New York construction details.
This is not a later Elkhart or Mt. Vernon production instrument.
This is an authentic New York Bach from the era that established the company's legendary reputation.
Whether you are a collector, professional player, or investor in fine musical instruments, opportunities to purchase examples from this period continue to become less frequent.
