VHT Pittbull Ultra-Lead G-100-UL Tube Head (1993) – Factory Confirmed #3 Ever Built – Original FC-1 Footswitch & Manual
Condition: Excellent
This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to own one of the earliest VHT amplifiers ever produced.
I recently contacted Fryette Amplification with the serial number of this amplifier, and they researched their archives. They confirmed that this amplifier is the third Pittbull Ultra-Lead ever built, dating to 1993.
According to Fryette:
- Steve Fryette still owns Ultra-Lead #1
- Ultra-Lead #2 was sold to what is now Guitar Center
- This amplifier (#3) was originally sold through Rock Block Music in Nashville
A copy of Fryette's email documenting the amplifier's history will be included with the sale.
About the Amplifier
This is the original VHT Pittbull Ultra-Lead G-100-UL, one of the flagship high-gain tube amplifiers that helped establish VHT's reputation for exceptional clarity, dynamics, and articulation.
Unlike many high-gain amplifiers of its era, the Ultra-Lead became known for producing crushing distortion while remaining incredibly tight and articulate. It has long been respected by professional touring musicians, session players, and collectors.
This example remains in excellent condition and includes several original accessories rarely found together.
Included
- VHT Pittbull Ultra-Lead G-100-UL Head

Provenance
This amplifier comes from my late father's personal collection.
He was a lifelong professional musician, guitar instructor, and music professor in Nashville, Tennessee. Throughout his career he assembled an exceptional collection of guitars and amplifiers that were meticulously cared for.
I am helping my mom sell much of his collection so these instruments can continue to be enjoyed by other musicians and collectors.
We recently sold his Gibson Custom Shop Wes Montgomery L-5 for over $13,000, which reflects the caliber of the collection.
