Up for sale, a 1990s Mosrite Ventures Model Excellent 65 vintage reissue electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan by Kurokumo, the Excellent Series Mosrites are among the most celebrated reissues for their feel, construction, and attention to detail. With a basswood body and prominent German Carve just like a genuine vintage example, this Mosrite features a pair of stock single coil pickups with plenty of twang, cut, and top end jangle. Weighing 7lbs 11oz, this Mosrite has been setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar for comfortable action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has Mosrite's signature slender and fast-feeling C shaped profile with a smooth gloss finish and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The profile measures .820” deep at the 1st fret, tapering gently to .880” at the 12th. The slender vintage-style frets are virtually flawless, and the guitar plays effortlessly up the fingerboard with an arrow straight neck. The 24 3/4" scale fretboard has a 1 9/16" wide aluminum nut accompanied by a zero fret that adds a touch of snappy top end to the tone. The headstock features Mosrite-branded Kluson-style tuners that have the classic '60s look and hold up well with unbridled vibrato use. The serial number is engraved into the fingerboard at the last fret, in true vintage fashion.
The body features original single coil pickups with embossed Mosrite covers, and the wiring harness boasts a three-way switch with a long baton tip. The '65 look is rounded out with a white three-ply pickguard and chrome Mosrite "M" knobs. The “Excellent” vibrato and bridge is a reissue of the Moseley system and has a smooth feel and an incredibly sensitive response.
In terms of cosmetic wear, the glossy three-tone Sunburst finish is exceptionally clean, with a few requisite surface scratches on the body as a whole and light scuffing in the pick path. The neck profile is flawless, and the chrome hardware is clean as can be.
