Up for sale, a 2000s Mosrite Ventures Model ‘65 vintage reissue in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag. With the "Mosrite of Classics" branding on the headstock typically attributed to models made by Fillmore in Japan, this Mosrite is somewhat unique and from its overall build and feature set does not appear to be Fillmore-made, with specific attention drawn to the P-90 pickups (different in appearance and construction than typical Mosrite single coils).
Hotly wound, the bridge pickup meters at 9.3k ohms, with a sharp, twangy quality, and the neck pickup is fuller and rounder, metering at 8.8k ohms and yielding a percussive chop ideal for chording. This Mosrite weighs 7lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and optimal intonation.
The neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders, measuring .815” deep at the 1st and 12th frets. The bound rosewood fretboard has a 16” radius, with the serial number stamped into the rosewood at the 22nd fret. The stock slender fretwire is pristine, and this Mosrite plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The fretboard measures 1.650” in width at the zero fret, just forward of the aluminum nut. The headstock sports a “Mosrite of Classics” logo, and the original Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.
All of the electronics function as intended, with a three-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. Hardware includes the Moseley vibrato unit, six-saddle bridge with deeply grooved saddles and locking nuts on top for additional stability, and a pair of smooth-topped knobs. Plastics include the single-ply parchment pickguard.
Cosmetic wear on the gloss Strawberry Red finish includes a handful of dings along the lower bout perimeter and on the back, with one larger touched-up chip on the bass-side lower bout edge. There is light buckle worming extending across the back and some faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original “Mosrite of Classics”-embroidered padded gigbag is included.
