BASS GUITAR
aka “Dolphin
Nose”
by
Danelectro, Neptune, NJ
We all know
it.
We all love
it.
One of the
most iconic “catalog” bass guitars of all time.
Skate key tuners, Masonite body, real Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, and real
lipstick coil pickup.
My first
guitar, bought in the summer of 1964 from the Sears Catalog when I was 14 years
old, was this model. I had to sell it to
get money to buy books for college in the fall of 1968. Now I own about a dozen of these.
This one was
showing its age a bit, so I sent it along to my favorite luthier’s in the US,
Kevin Smith of TONESMITH, for a complete redo and this is the result:
1.
New finish. Kevin did an incredible job of using sparkles
to set off a beautiful green burst finish.
2.
New binding.
Kevin has found a stash of this unique binding and applied it to this
guitar. Additionally, he has used piping
to secure it at the top and bottom of the body to solve the peeling problem we all
have had with our Danos.
3.
Cleaning all mechanical and electrical components.
The skate keys have been cleaned and lubed, the frets have been dressed,
and the fretboard has been refreshed.
All electronics have been cleaned and checked out. And Kevin has done a superb setup on it.
It comes
with a new hard shell case.

My guarantee is
simple.
Keep it for three
(3) days after you get it. Play it. Smell
it. Talk to it. Sit and look at it. If,
after 3 days (or 3 minutes or 3 hours), you do not like it for any reason, please
send it back for a full refund (you will need to pay the return shipping per
Reverb policy). And additionally, I will
issue you a credit voucher equal to 10% of the price you paid for this guitar
that you can apply to any purchase from me whenever. I just want you to be happy.
SALES TAX. Remember that you are going to be paying
sales tax on all of your purchases so figure that into your purchase price.
