NOTE: Heads up -- At the very end of the description -- I have a long list of the other mallets that I have listed on Reverb.

==

Up for grabs is one pair of new old stock Gambal (Gambal Manufacturing) GPHR-1 (UG13GPHR1) Percussive Keyboard Mallets (for xylophones and glockenspiels) 1 and 1/8 inches Brown Medium Nylon Flat Ball (oval) Heads with Black Synthetic Shafts (for xylophones and glockenspiels - they can also be used on temple blocks and wood blocks).

Comes with original packaging. From 1990s to early 2000s.

--

Only the one pair of GPHR-1 Mallets are for sale in this listing. But on hand - not listed yet - I also have a pair GPD model GAMBAL MALLETS. After I list the GPD pair - I'll add the REVERB link for it in the description of this listing.

And I have these Gambal Mallets (GPN, GPMR, GPL, GPXR-1,GPXH-1) each listed in a separate REVERB listing. Here're the REVERB links for them:

---

Back to information about the GPHR-1 Mallets that are for sale in this listing.

Measurements:

  • Full length: about 15 and 1/4 inches
  • Head Diameter: 1 and 1/8 inch
  • Head Height: 3/4 inch
  • Length of Shaft: about 14 and 1/4 inches

These mallets are NO longer in production.

  • NOTE: Since around 2002- 2003 - Gambal Manufacturing is NO longer in business.
  • But Gambal Music makes and sells Leather Cymbal Straps and Pads through the a couple of music stores and / or percussion companies.

I  got these mallets back in 2005  (even back then - they were in "new" old stock condition).

I was planning to sell them sooner- but was kind of busy. Finally getting a chance to sell them now.

With the exception of imperfections from how the mallets were manufactured and natural imperfections - the mallets are in excellent shape. That's why I put the condition as EXCELLENT instead of MINT.

The packaging (paper part and plastic part) is in between Very Good and Good shape.

The mallets were never used.

Each of the BALLS (HEADS) are clean.

  • NOTE: the top center area of each head has very small bump from how the mallets were manufactured.
  • Also - they have a a few other imperfections from how they were manufactured and a few natural imperfections in the rubber material (surface cloudiness and white-ish / cloudy surface line & round scuffs / spots (nothing dep or serious).

SHAFTS:

  • The black color of the SHAFTS is black with a dark and light gray blend of colors.
  • The shafts are NOT made of wood.
  • The shafts are synthetic. I don't know the exact type of synthetic material that they are made of. They feel like a very hard plastic (like a PVC) type of material.
  • The shafts have play - meaning they are a little flexible.
  • One shaft is straight. The other shaft is mostly straight - it has a slight curve as seen in picture # 5.

NOTE (more info about the shafts):

  • I'm not a percussionist - but from what I read from the little information that I found online about Gambal mallets - the shafts are known to flex more when used. The term WARP was used by someone in a post that I read.
  • Please keep this in mind - that there is a chance that the shafts of these mallets are made / designed in a manner where they will flex (are supposed to flex) - for response, action, pitch. etc. And the amount of flexing will depend on how you utilize them and how often you use them.
  • Please NO returns.

Since Gambal Manufacturing is no longer in business - there is very little information about Gambal Manufacturing mallets.

Also Gambal Mallets are very rare nowadays.

The packaging (paper part and the plastic bag part):

PAPER PART -

  • The paper part of the packaging has some visible not too light / not too deep unevenness, some creases, a few small dot impressions, some short line impressions, and a few tiny staple holes. The areas on / near a few of the corners have light - but visible wear. The black color on the top edge has some fading. There is a little wear on some of the other edge areas.
  • Most of these imperfections are visible on both sides of this paper (Outer Color Sides and Inner White Sides).
  • Also - the INNER WHITE SIDE has of the paper part has some aging / slight yellowing. It also has some discoloration on the lower area of the front side.
  • The information of the model of the mallets GPHR-1 is written with red pen. The X marking in the square box is a little blurred.

PLASTIC BAGGIE -

  • The plastic baggie a lot of visible creases & a lot of unevenness, some tiny nicks, some cloudiness, some tiny / very small dot impressions, some very light surface scratches, a couple of deeper scratches, some very light surface scuffs, the black graphic near the letter G has faded, and a few areas on the silver GAMBAL graphic has very small imperfections in the silver color There are also some tiny staple holes and the clear color of the baggies has aged a little in color.

I took several pictures of the mallets and there are a couple pictures of the packaging.

NOTE: For the MALLETS -- There may be a few minor imperfections that I overlooked. There maybe a few minor imperfections that can be seen in person that do not appear in the pictures. Also - there are some imperfections (glares, reflections. dust specks) that show up in the pictures that are not that visible in person.
