When Bill Finnegan created the Klon Centaur in mid-'90s, he single-handedly set off the boutique overdrive craze that has consumed the pedal industry. Revered for its articulate transparency, even mid-range response and rarity, the Klon provides a counterpoint to the Ibanez Tubescreamer's mid-range hump and muddy low-end. A new sound was born, and suddenly everyone was chasing it. Despite being covered in black epoxy, the original Klon circuit had an army of builders trying to clone it, as demand far exceeded supply for the $1000+ pedal. This set features original specimens and the legions of imitators that have emerged.
