PAF Pickups: Vintage Originals and Modern Alternatives

Developed by Seth Lover in 1955, the original PAF ("Patent Applied For") humbucker pickups found in Les Paul Customs and Goldtops of the late-1950s, as well as the legendary Les Paul Standard "Bursts" from 1958-1960 had a lot to do with the iconic sound of these classic guitars. Due to the machinery used in their manufacturing, all original PAFs have a unique tone and overall output level while maintaining that beefy signature sound that's given them so much fanfare. But as is the case with the vintage Les Paul market, the market price of original PAFs has skyrocketed over the years, which paved the way for modern pickup manufacturers to look to those old patent drawings to try to recreate that magic for today's working musicians. This handpicked collection is the home for all things PAF, from vintage originals to contemporary models by Gibson, DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan, Lindy Fralin, ThroBak and more to get that sought-after vintage sound from your guitar.
