Watch: First Trailer for Revealing New Eric Clapton Documentary, "Life in 12 Bars"

Showtime has released a new trailer for an upcoming documentary titled Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars.

The film is screening at the Toronto International Film Festival this week and set for a full release on Showtime in February 2018.

The trailer opens with footage of B.B. King describing Clapton before launching into other pieces of archival material and voiceovers describing Clapton's biography and far-reaching musical influence. At first glance, it appears the film will explore many of the darker periods of Clapton's life, including his battle with drugs and alcohol and the death of his son in 1991.

According to Rolling Stone, the film's director, Lili Fini Zanuck, was given access to "[an] extensive personal archive of classic performance clips, on- and off-stage footage, iconic photos, concert posters, handwritten letters, drawings and personal diary entries."
