Slash has teamed up with Dunlop once again for the MXR Slash Signature Talk Box, a new take on the effect he’s used throughout his career—and it’s launching exclusively on Reverb.
Based on the classic Heil Talk Box, Slash’s signature version features an upgraded loudspeaker selected by the guitarist himself. It’s designed to deliver more volume and low-end presence, while a redesigned conical tube adapter improves airflow, clarity, and articulation.
The streamlined candy apple red enclosure gives the unit a distinctly Slash look, but the appeal extends well beyond anyone chasing his exact sound. Like a wah, a talk box puts a player’s phrasing front and center—turning riffs and leads into something that sounds remarkably close to speech.
Slash traces his own fascination with the effect back to hearing Peter Frampton’s "Do You Feel Like We Do," Jeff Beck’s "She’s a Woman," and Aerosmith’s live version of "Walk This Way." He’s had one since he was 16 and describes the talk box as "a classic effect that transforms your guitar into an extension of your own voice."
The MXR Slash Signature Talk Box is available now exclusively on Reverb.
