Video: Eventide's H90 May Be the Last Multi-FX You'll Ever Need

Eventide's mighty H9 Max has consistently remained a bestseller since its initial release, with players flocking to it for a loaded effects experience in a compact, pedalboard-friendly package.

Now, the brand is back with a slightly bigger and even better pedal that may truly be the last multi-effect you'll ever need: the Eventide H90 Harmonizer.

The new H90 Harmonizer gets its name from the brand's flagship H9000 Harmonizer, which Eventide used to derive this pedal's modern and powerful ARM-based architecture. It's packed with 62 total effects algorithms, including ten brand-new ones the H9 Max does not have: Polyphony, Prism Shift, Bouquet Delay, Head Space, Weedwacker, Even-Vibe, Wormhole, Instant Flanger, Instant Phase, and SP2016 Reverb.

Particular standouts include the Even-Vibe, which the brand states is an "authentic Uni-Vibe emulation reimagined in stereo with envelope followers," as well as the four-head tape delay-inspired Head Space.

With Prism Shift, players can generate three voices from a single chord, all with their own separated, staggered, or pitch-shifted intervals "to create four arpeggio types spanning up to three octaves." The new H90 is also packed with three algorithms from Eventide's rackmount processors:

  • Instant Phaser – Authentic emulation of the world's first studio Phaser from 1971 notably used in Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir."
  • Instant Flanger – Authentic emulation of the world's first studio Flanger heard on countless hit records.
  • SP2016 Reverb – The legendary Room, Stereo Room, and Hi-density plate from the original studio rackmount.

This is just scratching the surface of what the new Eventide H90 offers. To its nearly endless tone-shaping potential, add in flexible inputs and outputs, a user-friendly and intuitive interface, and Eventide's included H90 Control software for further editing, and you can see why you may not need anything else on your board.
