Want to get a jump start on growing the next generation of musicians and gearheads? The Coolest Noise is the perfect gift for your kid, your friend's kids, or even your enemy's kids, if you're interested in having them wage some sonic warfare on your behalf.

As you can see in this gallery, the book's pages are richly illustrated, making the act of noise creation seem very cool indeed. And it serves as an introduction to the gear behind the music. There are iconic guitars like those played by Prince, St. Vincent, Kurt Cobain, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and effects you're bound to recognize, though here they sport new names, like the Cylinder Yeller (for Tube Screamer), Whammo (for Whammy), or what looks to be a Boogerfooger from Mob Boog.

The book was conceived by producer Kurt Ballou and Abominable Electronics' Patrick Emmons. According to them, "The Coolest Noise demystifies the obstacles in front of kids who want to play music. We want the reader to see the things that can at first be a bit intimidating not as obstacles, but as tools to get you where they wanna go. We break down the elements into friendly, digestible steps on a path that will send the reader down a fun-filled journey to playing music with others."
