The 10 Weirdest Guitars on Reverb Right Now

Weird gear is close to our hearts here at Reverb, and we often revel in the various oddities that find their way onto the site. This isn’t the first time that we’ve done a roundup of the strangest gear on Reverb, and I have a funny feeling that it won’t be the last. So in the spirit of the bizarre, take a look at what we think are the top 10 weirdest guitars for sale on Reverb right now.

1. Jackson Custom Shop 7-String Legend of Zelda Zoraxe

If you’re an old school Nintendo fan, you probably grew up obsessing over each issue of Nintendo Power. And if you were a subscriber to the magazine in 2000, you may have even entered the sweepstakes that this guitar was commissioned for.

Based on the “Guitar of Waves” featured in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, the 7-string Zoraxe was handcrafted by Dan Lawrence of Jackson’s Custom Shop. Only three of these guitars were ever made, and this is number one.

2.Terminator Mockingbird T800

Devil & Sons Guitars is a UK-based shop that makes “works of art that you can play.” This Terminator 2 B.C. Rich Mockingbird T800 was inspired by the music video for “You Could Be Mine” by Guns N’ Roses. The sculpture on the guitar is made of resin, vinyl, and milliput, featureing bright red 12mm LED light eyes.

3. Brian Eastwood Benedetto 1990s

English luthier Brian Eastwood is famous for his continuing series of mutated guitars. This model is a warped, surreal take on the classic Benedetto jazz guitars. It’s a fully playable electric guitar complete with a tremolo.

4. Kopo Arobass

This two–and–a–half octave, long-scale bass prototype was designed for the Optomik company. It features a maple neck, ebony fingerboard, and a totally weird carbon fiber body design.

5. Jackson Custom Shop Kaiju Custom

Mike Learn of the Jackson Custom Shop carved and painted this oddball guitar by hand, first displayed at NAMM in 2015. The body is made of Alder, and the LED lights in the eye and the mouth light up when the guitar is plugged in.

6. Rambler Custom Strobelcaster Travel Guitar

This full–scale, custom travel guitar is modeled after a vintage Fender Stratocaster. It’s a totally unique instrument that you’re able to disassemble quite easily by loosening the StringKeeper from the top of the neck, wrapping the strings around the body, removing the four thumbwheels and popping off the neck. Weighing just four pounds, it’s so compact that it’ll fit into a computer bag when broken down.

7. Devil & Sons Xenomorph II 2016

The Xenomorph II features a resin and milliput sculpted head of the Xenomorph from Alien running along the top of the guitar’s body. The creatures bottom jaw forms the lower horn on the guitar's body, complete with gnarled teeth. The entire guitar is hand-painted black.

8. Custom Made Headless Eagle Guitar

If the lack of a headstock didn’t make this guitar interesting enough, the body is a custom made, hand-carved and painted eagle. It features a Steinberger–type tailpiece, a maple neck and fingerboard, and alien head inlays.

9. League of Legends Custom Guitar

When Riot Games featured this guitar on their YouTube channel for the “Famileague” show in December of 2015, cries around the internet pleaded for it to be offered to the public. The guitar is made of mahogany and basswood and the shape represents the League of Legends World Championship cup. It’s billed as a specifically “heavy metal” guitar.

10. Light & Blue Country Guitar

This piece is as much of a stunning wall decoration as it is a guitar. The body is totally unique, with engravings done entirely by hand. The body is made in the USA with a neck made in France.
