A brand-new effects maker is joining the ranks of boutique builders with its first ever release.

Today, Redbeard Effects—spearheaded by Skindred's Mikey Demus, in collaboration with ThorpyFX—is releasing the Red Mist MKIV, a medium- to high-gain drive bringing levels of amp-like gain to your pedalboard. Demus, as some of you likely know, is a noted gearhead, who Reverb has worked with before to sell some of his personal collection of pedals, guitars, and other gear.

For his pedal company, he has his sights set on new tones.

"We're not looking to go where others have gone before. Whether you're into blues, rock, punk, metal, ambience, pop, or making weird and wonderful noises—whatever your thing is, we're here to push the envelope of what a pedal can do for you," Mikey says.

The Red Mist MKIV, with a wide-ranging variety of gains on offer, is a 100% analogue circuit that promises anything from "a huge tight crunch all the way up to a crushing high-gain tone," along with a highly tweakable EQ and Mids Control. According to Redbeard, it's an "alternative to the countless generic, muddy / ice-pick sounding drives out there in the wild."

In addition, the company says the Red Mist MKIV's features include:

  • Huge amounts of string definition & clarity
  • Extremely low noise floor
  • Top-mounted jacks
  • True bypass switching
  • Polarity protection
  • Highly engineered custom enclosure
  • Premium build quality
  • Handbuilt & handwired in the UK

The Red Mist MKIV is priced at £184.99. Click here to order yours on Reverb now.
