Skindred Guitarist Mikey Demus to Sell Pedals, Lefty Guitars, and More on Reverb

"I've been playing and collecting guitars for about 25 years, and, like the best of us gear heads, I'm a total hoarder," says Skindred's Mikey Demus. "But I've got to a point where I just have too many guitars that don't get the airtime they deserve—it's a travesty to have such killer axes gather dust or sit in storage. It's time for me to pass some of my most-loved tools of the trade onto others."

Today, we're excited to announce The Official Mikey Demus of Skindred Reverb Shop, which will feature dozens of guitars, effects pedals, and other gear from the band's career. Of particular note is that Mikey—as a left-handed player—is selling a number of cool left-handed instruments.

Please note: Guitars will only be shipped to Europe, though other items in the sale will ship worldwide.

"As a lefty I know that truly great, inspiring guitars are hard to come by," he tells us. "There's so many killer instruments here, my hope is that they will go on to inspire my fellow southpaws."

The guitars include an EVH Japanese Wolfgang that Demus used to write some of the band's most popular songs, including "Kill the Power" and "Ninja."

"Around the time we were touring 'Kill The Power,' I decided to deck this guitar out with some spray paint customisation, so it features my go-to black and orange colour scheme with the 'Kill The Power' fist logo. It's a total one off and one hell of a guitar," Mikey says.

Another guitar near and dear to Demus' heart is his 2005 Gibson SG Special guitar, which he bought to replace his main guitar, which was stolen from their tour. It's been used extensively ever since, played on every tour as well as on albums Shark Bites and Dog Fights, Union Black, and more.

A Tele-style partscaster, which Mikey bought on tour in the U.S. in 2007, is one of the more unique offerings, after he swapped the neck for a Highway One Strat neck, which Demus said added modern practicality," along with its "humongous frets and oversized '70s headstock." He played it often on stages across the world. "It's been my No. 2 onstage for about eight years, but now it's time to move it on," he says.

The most eye-catching instrument for sale may be the 1961 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster masterbuilt by Greg Fessler. Demus says he's likely used the guitar on every headline tour since 2011, but it's "practically impossible to put down." However, it's just a bit too rich for Demus' taste. "The fact is, it's just too damn nice to take on the road and I'm paranoid about it getting damaged—or worse, stolen–so I'm moving on. I'll most likely cry a little bit inside when this one sells."
