Empress Effects Unveils the New ZOIA Euroburo Modular Synth | NAMM 2020

Back at NAMM 2018, Empress Effects teased a super unique effect called the ZOIA Compact Grid Controller. It's effectively a modular synthesizer in pedal format, and brings a synth, smattering of effects, sequencer, and usable keyboard straight to players' feet.

The ZOIA Compact Grid Controller finally hit the market last April and gained fans fast for its sweeping capabilities, flexibility, and customizability. Some players even found that, with its 64 savable patches, the single powerful pedal could replace their entire pedalboard.

New for 2020, Empress has unveiled a redesigned version of the ZOIA pedal called the ZOIA Euroburo that's, wait for it, a true modular synthesizer! Players can now get all of the flexibility of the "modular synth in a pedal" unit in a rackmountable enclosure (but it can also be used as a standalone desktop unit, hence the "buro" as in bureau, sold separately).

This new modular synth includes over 80 modules including ADSRs, CV switches, slew limiters, CV loopers, over 20 effects modules, and more.

Ports-wise, it features 4 CV in jacks and 4 CV out jacks, MIDI I/O, stereo I/O, and a headphone audio out. It also offers a new sample player that allows players to load samples from an SD card or capture and playback live audio.

Be sure to check out the short KNOBs demo video above, and stay tuned for more about street price and shipping dates for the ZOIA Euroburo. For more coverage from the NAMM floor in Anaheim, click the banner below.
