Updated for 2026! The MTD Kingston Z is the flagship model of the Kingston line and takes many of its design cues from Handmade USA MTD basses.
The Kingston Z5 features an alder body, roasted maple neck, and ebony fingerboard for a fast, stable, professional feel. MTD's asymmetrical neck and compound fingerboard radius are designed for comfortable, fatigue-free playing, while the Buzz Feiten Tuning System helps deliver precise intonation up and down the neck.
Like all MTD Kingston instruments, the Z5 undergoes a rigorous quality control and setup process in MTD's Kingston, NY facility by master technicians. The robust top-loading MTD Quick Release bridge allows for fast string changes, and Licensed Hipshot Ultralite tuners provide reliable tuning stability without unnecessary neck dive.
The active preamp provides +/- 6db of boost and cut across bass, middle, and treble. MTD soapbar pickups deliver punch, clarity, and extended-range definition, making this a strong choice for working bassists, modern players, and weekend warriors alike.
