This is one of the coolest modified 50s Les Paul Specials I've run into. What started life as a dual p90, TV yellow finished guitar has ended up as a heavily played, refinished dark natural with a maiden inlaid into the top with detailed mother-of-pearl, abalone and wood carvings. Hippie Art or Rustic Figurehead of a Pirate Ship - however you see it - it is awesome and one-of-a-kind!

Obviously, these changes no longer make this one the $20k example it would be. Other things you might like to know, there was a headstock crack, tuners have been replaced, it was routed for old Dimario humbuckers that sound awesome, Intonatable wraptail was added, refretted at some point with minor wear. I believe the pickguard and truss rod cover to still be original, but that's about it.

The neck is perfectly straight with string tension and the truss rod has all the tightening adjustment left you could ever want to fix a bow in the neck (IE for heavier strings.) It does not have any loosening action, but you don't tend to have a neck develop an upbow without someone messing up the truss rod so I don't see that ever being an issue. If you plan to seriously gig this guitar, you'll likely want to give the electronics an overhaul, find a better-fitting tailpiece and do a better job on the nut. Does it play and sound great as-is for a bedroom player? Yes. But the jack would benefit from being replaced and a better ground installed. The current bridge is too thick and doesn't allow for the strings to sit in the saddle slots. Tuning and intonation would likely get better with all these addressed. I mention this solely for the perfection players out there - most would be fine with the current set up.
