Affordable vintage!

This 1960's era SG-style guitar was produced in the famous Matsumoku factory in Japan, and comes equipped with all original parts. While lacking a specific brand name, the Matsumoku factory produced guitars under a wide range of names at the time (often building guitars first, then slapping on a logo for whatever company contracted them at the time). Brands produced in this factory during that period included Gibson (Norlin), Aria, Washburn, Univox, Greco, and more.

This SG-style guitar has some unique features and is a very rare example of this particular model. We were only able to find two other examples of this exact model, both produced by Matsumoku under the brand names "Pan" and "Lyle." This guitar features an adjustable bridge and kill switches for each pickup, in addition to independent volume and tone knobs. The original tremolo bridge keeps strings in tune with no issues, but is missing its original tremolo arm (from the research examples we have found, most original owners removed the trem arms in the 1960's. The guitar plays perfectly without it, and the wide flat bridge top is easy to palm-trem without the arm for light tremolo accents).

This guitar works perfectly and has no structural issues. As a 55+ year old vintage guitar, there is natural relic across the finish and headstock, including scratches, dings, and cracks. The body of this guitar is ply construction, and the surface cracking does not extend beyond the surface layer, nor do they affect the structure. They are just a reminder that this is a truly vintage instrument.

The aged neck is straight, and the rosewood fretboard is smooth and broken in. This guitar does show cosmetic signs of decades of rocking out, but sounds crystal clear and is in perfect working order. A true relic, ready to jam for decades more.

This guitar features all of its original hardware (minus the trem arm), including vintage original pickups (which are the same used in the famous Univox Coily model). Tone is a clear, classic growly humbucker sound developed by Gibson in the 1960's. There is no buzz or hum in the guitar circuitry, and all electronics are clean with no rust or moisture damage.

This is an example of the "Affordable Vintage" guitar that we strive to provide. We have tested it extensively, and it plays beautifully. A chance to own a piece of guitar history on a budget.
