About This Listing

Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Incredibly rare Zerosette SAD 2V Super Thinline guitar. Made in the late 1960s or early 1970s in Italy. Zerosette was a small luthier, much lesser known than Eko, but their guitars excel in quality and are laudated amongst aficionados of the Italian guitar production.

The guitar is completely hollow and has the typical “Barney Kessel”-shape. It comes with two genuine original PAF-style humbuckers and vibrato.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-Scale:  628 mm

-Nut: 4,25 mm

-Weight: 3,5 kg

-Pickups: Two original humbuckers, both measuring at about 7-8k. Controlled with a kind of weird control layout – two volumes, two tone, one tone that only works on the neck pickup, and a reversely connected 3 way toggle.

-Body: likely laminated maple, all hollow, 4,6 cm deep.

-Neck: slim D, small and slim frets with rounded radius, likely maple with rosewood fingerboard.

Condition:

-Body: Good condition with no major marks of use, some scratches, dings and dongs

-Neck: neck is straight, frets are in good condition (8/10) with no buzz or fretting out; there are some typical lacquer cracks on the headstock front (the Italian lacquer is prone to develop such cracks), but no damages to either neck or headstock. The tuners have been swapped once with non-matching Gotoh-styles, which I removed and installed a new set of DerJung tuners which match the vintage flair of the guitar better.

-Hardware: good shape; the toggle switch tip has been repaired.

-Electrics: the old pots cannot be removed from the body, as the f-holes are too slim to let them through. Therefore you have to live with the quirky layout and that the pots at times crackle. As you can see in the video, if you just play it and don’t bother about using the pots too much, it is well workable. The pots have never been touched.

-Originality: all original except for the tuners.

Sound and Playability:

-Playability and string action: The playability is great with a string action of 1,8 mm at the 12th fret. If you want it lower, you can do that, but probably wouldn’t work well with the rounded vintage fretboard and small frets.

-Sound: A warm, rounded tone, low output, really vintage. Please watch the video for a sound demo.

Repairs, Service:

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

-Completely cleaned

-Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-New set of Pyramid 10 gauge nickel strings put on

-Ready to be played (just tune it up);

Auxiliary stuff:

-No original gigbag or case available. The guitar will be wrapped well, and put into a sturdy cardboard box with lots of filler material. If you wish I can buy a fitting case at your costs.
