This is a rare Teisco Del Ray Pocket Bass. It is VERY short scaled at just under 24 inches! Pocket basses are great as they have lots of thump and are very easy to play. This could be a great bass for someone with small hands or someone who wants a light and fun very playable instrument. The instrument is also VERY rare, could make a fun addition to a collector of Japanese made instruments from this era.
The bass is barely playable, and advertised as in poor condition. The electronics are scratchy and intermittent. Tuners are stiff. The neck strap pin broke into the neck (noted in the pictures). The pickup is slightly microphonic, meaning it picks up finger noise. Some people like this in a pickup. It is poorly intonated. There are scratches and finish checking through out. Most of the finish checking looks fantastic and is age appropriate. I've done my best to document the wear and problems, but understand this is a very old instrument being sold in poor condition. As such, the bass is being sold as-is. It will require a good deal of work to get it into good condition, including fretwork, potentially a new nut, and likely some soldering work.
This is being sold without a case, but will be packed into a guitar shipping box. Local pickup in downtown Toronto is welcome and encouraged.
