For your consideration~
A Vintage circa 1880's 7 string fretless banjo. This one was made by Lyon and Healy (Chicago). Rare for a USA maker to produce a 7 String. I believe most of these were intended to be shipped to the UK, as 7 strings were more popular there.
A Very nice instrument that produces a sound like no other. I have it tuned so the two extra bass strings resonate sympathetically (ex: tuned in double C, the bass strings are tuned to G and C). This would be great to record with, when it gets resonating the word "thunderous" comes to mind. Nice fretless fretboard with markers. Someone years ago wrote notes on the fretboard, which can be seen in a couple of the pics. This doesn't effect the playability at all, only adds story to its journey. Aftermarket tuning pegs, skin head in great shape, ready to play. I want to mention (and to be observed in a picture included that what appears to be an old very hairline crack on the back of the neck by the heel. This is not deep and hasn't moved, but wanted to mention it. Please remember this banjo is over 100 years old, not perfect- but all things considered, it's in great shape. I've never seen another Lyon and Healy 7 String.
