The GX-1820D was another of Akai’s stereo reel-to-reel/eight-track cartridge combination units. It featured a three-motor tape deck with auto reverse and a black face panel. The reel-to-reel section offered two speeds, 7½ and 3¾ ips, two GX-heads and a 7″reel capacity. It was also available with an inbuilt six watt per channel power amplifier.
Cosmetically, this unit is in nice condition. I listed it as Fair because I am having difficulty getting the Play function to operate on demand. The 8-Track player works easily, but the reel to reel part does Fast Forward and Rewind perfectly, just not play. Please see the YouTube video. I will throw in a random reel with purchase.
