Vintage 1966 AKAI X-355D reel to reel tape player / recorder. This is a rare 4-track solid state model with cross-field, and built-in mono or stereo reverb. This unit was tested and appears to work. Once plugged in, the Power button starts the unit and you can hear it warming up. Running through the Play, Stop, Rewind, and Forward switches all work. I could not test the heads because the NAB adapter/ securely locks are missing along with the circular covers that install around the supply reel and take-up reel motor housings. This prevents me from running a tape through to test the heads. The heads look good though. The Voltage Meter window in the back of this unit is misaligned, but still functional. Please see pictures. The only other thing I noticed was the backlights in the VU meters do not turn on and appear to be burnt out. It is possible that the VU meters are not functional or not powered, but I can't test that without running a tape through it. Please see Youtube demo video.
