About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1976 Greco Super Sounds SE-600N electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original faux leather gigbag. Precursor to the Fender Japan JV Strats, the Super Sounds models were made in Japan at the famed Fujigen factory prior to Fujigen Gakki signing their deal with Fender. Despite strict adherence to Fender Strat build parameters in many respects, what makes this SE-600N stand out is the unique solid all-maple body. Paired with a one-piece maple neck, the guitar has an articulate treble character and authoritative note attack, qualities which translate well via the stock trio of Maxon Excel alnico magnet black bobbin single coils. Via the three-way pickup selector switch, the bridge pickup is sparkling and clear, while the neck pickup has ideal fullness and bell-like top end, with every shade of single coil Strat sound covered in-between. The guitar weighs 9lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, spot-on intonation, and easy-playing action.

The maple neck has a rounded medium C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulder at the nut, gaining more heft and roundness as you move up the fretboard,\ measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The maple fretboard features a 7 1/4“ radius and stock slender fretwire. The frets have their full height and meat with virtually no wear, and the guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted, responsive truss rod. Further adhering to traditional Fender spec, the scale length is 25 1/2", and the original bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width. The oversized headstock features the original nickel Greco-branded tuning machines that turn smoothly and work as they should. The four-bolt neck plate is embossed with the B76-prefix serial number, translating to February of 1976.

On the body, the stock electronics feature a traditional Strat control array with a three-way blade pickup selector toggle, Maxon-made Excel black bobbin single coils, and full-size pots. The hardware shows a hint of surface patina, while the pickup covers and guard are quite clean with some yellowing of the plastic Volume knob. The gloss Natural finish is extremely well-kept, with faint flame figuring along the treble side of the body. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few minor marks on the body as a whole, and a faint oval-shaped sticker tan line on the lower bout on top. The original smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine.

The original faux leather gigbag is included.
