Pick your jaw up off the floor and wipe away the drool. This Candy Apple Red beauty is absolutely the best looking bass we have had come in quite a while. A shop favorite because It sounds as great as she plays and looks killer as well. Your eyes are not deceiving you, this is in fact a flawless 1990's Mosrite Ventures Model '64 vintage reissue bass in time capsule condition that works perfectly. It comes with the original hardshell case that is also in great shape. This is truly a near flawless, close to a time-capsule piece. It has remained unplayed for the last 20-30 years and came to us with the thin protective plastic and "Made in Japan" sticker still on the pickguard, this stunningly rare instrument was produced by Kurokumo, who were the official Mosrite licensee in Japan at the time of this production.
While this is considered a short scale bass with a 30 1/2" scale length, this Mosrite packs a HUGE punch and sounds like a big tone monster. Plenty of growl and bottom end, it also cleans up well with plenty of mids and clear/well balanced tone. It has brand new American made strings, and the basswood body offers a warm and not too bright vintage tone. The single coil pickup sounds slightly over-wound but not dark or overbearing. It Delivers plenty of mellow tones when finessed and a handful of growl with plenty of thump and punch when driven. The bass has just been professionally setup here at The Guitar Dude and the result is an instrument with inviting feel, comfortable action and accurate intonation.
The neck is bound offering a classy look and feel and has a round medium C-shaped profile. The fretboard is dark and rich with ultra dark streaks and grain and is clearly of top quality. Another cool feature is that unlike later Japanese Mosrite's this bass still has the vintage correct "Ventures Model" text on the headstock.
The electronics work flawlessly, and she plays fantastic.
It has just been professionally set up and dialed in for optimal playability and tone. It has low action with no buzzing or dead spots and is an absolute joy to play. It has been deep cleaned and detailed. All guitars will arrive looking and playing great. The frets have been dressed/polished and the fingerboard was cleaned. (Unfinished Rosewood and Ebony boards get treated with Fret Doctor - a proprietary all natural oil that is the best on the market) It was professionally set up and has brand new strings, the action was adjusted, the intonation is spot on and it plays excellent. All the electronics work flawlessly.
