This unique parlor guitar was most likely made in the 1930's in Schonbach on the Czech-German border and it's not only a beautiful specimen, but also a completely playable instrument with great sound!
The guitar is made from all-solid woods with a solid spruce top with tight grain, extremely rich MOP inlayed purfling that binds the top, a MOP inlaid rosette, custom moon shaped bridge with a bone saddle and a 3 piece maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, which is connected to the body with a Stauffer Legnani style bolt connection and the fretboard ending floating over the top of the guitar. Tuners are in great condition too and work well. The whole instrument was checked, it is in good and stable condition, the action is comfortable and the cracks seen on the photos are quite common for instruments of this age and were repaired at some point in the past. The varnish is in generally very good condition too with some dents and usual marks of use.
There are 10 gauge steel strings on the guitar, but it can be restringed to nylon strings if desired (there is both a string guiding nut and a zero fret). The rosette decoration style and body shape of this custom model are identical to some guitars in the 1930's catalogue of the ALBO (Alfred Borst) company based in Schonbach.
