Paramount Style 1 Plectrum Banjo, 1928
This 92 year old plectrum banjo is a real players instrument. It has a very fast neck, smooth low action, good frets, and a nice clear tone. While it isn't one of the more decorative Paramount models, it still has the thick hardwood rim and tone ring which gives these banjos their distinctive sound. The banjo has been refinished. The neck was over-sprayed and the resonator was stripped and re-varnished. There is a nick in the side of the resonator and some of the veneer has worn through and is visible under the new clear-coat. I have show both in the photos. Also, the tuners were swapped out with more modern pancake style ones at some point so the old screw holes are still present. Some of the chrome has worn off of the hot-dog style are guard, and the tail-piece has been swapped out with another Paramont one in gold. None of the above blemishes affect its sound or playability in any way. This banjo comes with a new Gator hard-shell case. It's not a showpiece, but if you want a banjo gig with without worry, or a really nice player to practice with, you couldn't do better.
