Arguably, this hand-painted Swirl Orange lacquer finish is Yamaha’s coolest, of all-time. It was Steve Jordan’s “idea”, and color of choice. The Sakae folks got it right, once again. Too, they procured some exceptional Malaysian Kapur plies for this run. (Kapur was the “tone-wood” component for Yamaha’s ultra high-end Phoenix (PHX) line.) They created spectacular drums through & through.
I purchased this kit new and used it sparingly - one session and one concert performance. It was one of those “had to have/play it” buys. Otherwise, this kit has remained untouched, in an a/c studio.
The drums, heads and provided hardware are completely original. Other than marks on the batter heads, two flea-nicks on each kick hoop (resonant nick could easily be covered by a claw) and a little pedal rash on the bottom of the batter hoop, it’s as it was when purchased new.
Absolutely no issues of concern with this fine instrument. The drums play and record like a dream. Likely won’t find one as nice as this, unless a NOS or display kit pops up. The painted, lacquer finish glows and chrome gleams. The drums look new from 5’ away. See pic’s.
This listing also includes era-correct Yamaha mounting hardware. All complete and in excellent used condition. No issues. See pic.
